Brothers and sisters: Welcome to Do Your Best, Fuck the Rest. My name is Miguel Chen. I’m the bass player in long running punk band Teenage Bottlerocket. I’m an RYT 500 and an owner/teacher at Blossom Yoga Studio. I have written two books for Wisdom Publications. I’m a father, husband, world traveller, and lover of tacos and dogs (but not dog tacos, that’s just wrong).

If you’re familiar with my work then you already know: this isn’t your typical, flowery spiritual/self help writing. There are a lot of swear words, and fart jokes. Funny stuff, stupid stuff, dark stuff. REAL stuff.

We’re not hiding out in the Himalayas, trying to transcend life’s problems. We’re taking life head on, facing our perceived problems and seeing them for what they really are: a bunch of bullshit.

I have devoted many years to studying spiritual traditions from around the world. I’ve learned a lot about what does and doesn’t work for me. I still learn a lot each day. I’m not an enlightened spiritual master, I’m a normal dude, but I want to be of service.

Thats’ what Do Your Best, Fuck the Rest aims to do. Here I will share my experiences, as well as give practices and contemplations that you can try for yourself. It might not all work for you, but if even one thing hits home, then we can consider this a great success.

I will open the floor for further discussion. Together we will explore life, death, tacos, yoga, meditation, depression, anxiety, joy, love, hate, dogs, music and anything else we can think of. We’ll do so through a spiritual lens that’s grounded in reality.

True spirituality embraces our inner landscape, as well as the world around us. Listening to the Ramones can be as much of a spiritual practice as silent meditation. All of life (and death) is a practice, here we practice together.

We’ll do our best to change the things we can change, say fuck it to the things that are out of our control, and high-five each other along the way. Sound good?

Now, sign up so you don’t miss the first issue. Duh.

Meanwhile, tell everyone you know!!
